William H. Cumpston and his brother Albert R. Cumpston were both in Company B, 12th Illinois Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. William was killed and Albert was badly wounded on February 15, 1862 at the Battle of Ft. Donelson. They were my 3rd great grand uncles. Brothers of my maternal 3rd great grandmother. I have Albert’s military and pension record.
