The European Union spends around €55 billion a year on farm subsidies. This website helps people find out who gets what, and why. http://farmsubsidy.org/ is searchable by country and is a really useful tool for family and local historians – not what it was designed for! You can drill down to country, county, district council area and then browse the list of farms and see what they are receiving in farm subsidy. It is a very handy tool if you have farmers in your family tree!
