The Commonwealth War Graves Commission has relaunched its website at www.cwgc.org. As part of the new site the interface for the Search for War Dead page has been expanded – in addition to previous search parameters you can now also search by rank, service number, regiment and even secondary regiment, as well as by honours and awards.

I have two CUMPSTON entries both on my website at www.cumpston.org.uk

Name Rank Service Number Date of Death Age Regiment / Service Service Country Grave / Memorial Reference Cemetery / Memorial Name
CUMPSTON, BASIL LANCELOT Second Lieutenant 10/05/1917 24 Border Regiment United Kingdom I. A. 8. ACHIET-LE-GRAND COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION
CUMPSTON, JOSEPH Acting Bombardier 2081 23/03/1920 44 Royal Field Artillery United Kingdom KENNINGTON CEMETERY
I have many times asked myself whether there can be more potent advocates of peace upon earth through the years to come than this massed multitude of silent witnesses to the desolation of war.King George V, Flanders, 1922
