Iissues of The Canada Gazette, “the official newspaper of the Government of Canada,” dating from 1998 have been online and searchable at http://gazette.gc.ca/index-eng.html

However a digitisation project aimed at putting online all issues prior to 1998, right back to 1841, has now been completed. From the following link you can access basic or advanced keyword search pages:
 http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/canada-gazette/index-e.html

The Gazette includes Government notices, bankruptcies, applications for divorce, civil service appointments, company announcements, Letters Patent (Companies Act), and  military appointments.

Often referred to as “the official newspaper of the Government of Canada,” the Canada Gazette has been an important instrument in the Canadian democratic process for more than 160 years. The database comprises images taken from microfilm, microfiche and rare original copies of the Gazette held by LAC.
