Searching Australian Newspapers

For those who haven’t come across this link there are a number of Australian newspapers which have a free search engine at http://newspapers.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/home
The original images can be saved.  Christine, a friend in Canada, searched on key words to bring up ’6 Jun 1831 – The beautiful suspension bridge over the river Yore at Middleham, in  Yorkshire, fell in December. A number of cattle, passing over at the time, it is supposed caused the accident.

the late Mr. William Coote, Sydney. 28 Jul 1859

DEATHS. On the 20th April, at Reeth, Yorkshire, George Chalder, aged 88 ; father of
Thomas Chalder, Heathcote, St, Peter’s. He had been agent for the several
Hurst Lead Mining Companies for 65 years.
